AID-MENA has a Research Unit dedicated to research focusing in many areas with a core team of expert researchers in various disciplines. The Research Unit was established in 2006 with Ahmed El-Wahed as its founding director. 
 
The Research Unit mission is to conduct research into the social and political science 
fields; in order to develop and trial new ways of thinking, introduce positive changes, 
and bring cultural reforms. The research unit also aims to train future researchers in the field and to support those who are aiming to be acquainted with research techniques. 
 
The Research Unit motivation stems from the desire to collect data of the highest quality, to undertake research in the public good and to enhance knowledge and contribute to informed decision-making. Our goal is to be internationally acknowledged as a centre for excellence in the provision of social science research services.
